This year, the calendar is busier than ever, with a series of festivals and concerts offering everything from flamenco to rock and indie music, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

1001 Músicas at the Generalife

The Generalife serves as the backdrop for the 1001 Músicas cycle, which includes renowned performances this year. On September 6, the group Vetusta Morla will take the stage, followed by The Psychedelic Furs on September 7. The following week, Noa and Mikel Izal perform on the 13th and 14th, respectively. María José Llergo, a flamenco revelation, will perform on September 20, and Patti Smith on the 21st. The cycle concludes with Coque Malla on the 27th and Amaral on the 28th, enriching Granada’s nights with diverse and immersive music.

Highlight Events at the Plaza de Toros

The Plaza de Toros of Granada also joins the celebration with several major concerts. On September 7, the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada will welcome the musical season with a program featuring great opera choruses. On September 21, Manolo García, and on the 28th, Los Planetas, will draw crowds with their legendary performances.

Granada Sound: A Unique Festival

The Granada Sound, scheduled for September 13 and 14 at the iconic Cortijo del Conde, promises to be one of the standout musical events of the season, attracting both locals and visitors from across Spain. This year’s lineup includes a diverse selection of artists that will undoubtedly thrill attendees during two days of non-stop music.

Headlining the lineup is Carlos Sadness, whose unique musical style, combining tropical rhythms with poetry-filled lyrics, promises to captivate the audience in an unforgettable sensory and visual experience. Another major name on the bill is Crystal Fighters, the British-Spanish band that has won over international audiences with their mix of electronic, folk, and dance music.

The festival will also feature Arde Bogotá, one of the most interesting emerging bands on the Spanish scene. Additionally, attendees can enjoy the freshness and irony of Cariño, the girl trio that has revolutionized the national pop scene with their laid-back style and catchy lyrics.

Cupido, the band that mixes trap and pop with a nostalgic touch, will also be present, offering a show that will not leave anyone indifferent. Ginebras, with their fresh and fun pop, will join the party, alongside Elyella, whose mix of indie and electronic music will keep the dance floor buzzing throughout the festival.

La La Love You, another standout group, will bring their energetic and contagious pop punk, ensuring moments of pure fun. La Paloma, Merino, Samurai, Sexy Zebras, and Shinova complete a lineup that will undoubtedly make Granada Sound an unforgettable musical experience.

The Essence of Flamenco in Granada

September brings an event to Granada that highlights the city’s rich flamenco tradition: “Granada es Flamenco 365,” a concert series running from September 14 to 22, serving as a prelude to the first Bienal de Flamenco scheduled for 2025. This event will take place in some of the city’s most iconic venues, such as the Palacio de los Córdova and the Sacromonte Abbey, bringing together prominent local artists who represent the best of flamenco art, reaffirming Granada’s deep cultural legacy.

The inaugural event, scheduled for September 14 at the iconic Mirador de San Nicolás, will be a tribute to the Morente family, one of flamenco’s most influential dynasties. Estrella Morente, accompanied by her siblings Soleá and Kiki Morente, will headline the night with a performance that promises to be an emotional tribute to their father, the legendary cantaor Enrique Morente

On September 15, the series will continue at the Carmen de los Mártires with a performance by the talented guitarist Juan Habichuela Nieto, grandson of the renowned guitarist Juan Habichuela. With his virtuosity and deep understanding of flamenco, Juan Habichuela Nieto has gained recognition as one of the most promising guitarists of his generation.

On September 20, the Sacromonte Abbey will host the renowned dancer Fuensanta La Moneta, who will present her show “Vínculos“. La Moneta is known for her powerful interpretations and her ability to convey the deepest emotions through dance.

The following day, on September 21, the stage at the Sacromonte Abbey will be taken by the internationally acclaimed cantaora Marina Heredia. With a powerful voice and commanding stage presence, Marina Heredia is one of the most prominent figures in contemporary flamenco.

The Granada es Flamenco 365 series will culminate on September 22 at the Palacio de los Córdova with performances by Sergio “El Colorao” and El Turry, two young artists taking flamenco to new heights.
