Wines from Granada: A Sensory Experience at Seda Club

Granada is not only renowned for its Moorish architecture, the Alhambra, or its mountainous landscapes, but also for its rich winemaking tradition. At Seda Club, we have selected an exclusive collection of wines with denomination of origin, produced by local wineries that combine tradition, innovation, and love for the land. Every glass we serve tells the story of the mountains, valleys, and hands that craft them.

White Wines

Diez días de marzo 2023 (Bodegas Vilaplana)

Located in Caniles, at the foot of the Sierra de Baza, Bodegas Vilaplana is a family project known for its high-quality wines and limited productions. The “Diez días de marzo” white wine is produced at over 1,000 meters above sea level, a location that adds freshness and complexity to the wine. This young wine has a floral aroma with hints of citrus and tropical fruits. On the palate, it is smooth, with balanced acidity and a persistent aftertaste. With only 4,000 bottles produced annually, this wine is an exclusive expression of Granada’s biodiversity.

Fontedei Albayda 2021 (Fontedei Bodegas y Viñedos)

Nestled in the heart of La Contraviesa, Fontedei combines traditional techniques with modern innovation. Its Albayda white wine, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, is partially fermented in French oak barrels, achieving a perfect balance between fruit and wood. On the nose, it unveils aromas of white fruits, herbs, and spices, while on the palate, it is known for its structure and persistence. Fontedei is a winery that focuses on limited editions, emphasizing quality and sustainability.

Serendipity 2023 (Bodegas Toral)

From Guadix, Bodegas Toral revives the nearly extinct Torrontés grape variety to produce this unique white wine. On the nose, Serendipity offers a bouquet of white flowers, stone fruits, and a subtle mineral touch. On the palate, it is fresh, with vibrant acidity and a sweet finish. The winery, managed by the Toral Gómez family, uses sustainable techniques in areas known as Granada’s “Badlands”, combining tradition with respect for the environment.

Red Wines

Atrapasueños 2023 (Bodegas Toral)

This young red wine, made through carbonic maceration, is a single-varietal Cinsault, known for its liveliness and freshness. On the nose, it evokes red fruits like cherries and raspberries, complemented by spicy notes. On the palate, it is light, with soft tannins and a versatile profile that invites enjoyment on any occasion. Bodegas Toral uses sustainable farming practices and pays special attention to each bottle, reflecting their connection to nature.

Federico Schatz Petit Verdot 2016 (Bodegas Schatz)

Although this winery is located in the nearby Serranía de Ronda, its organic and biodynamic philosophy makes it a reference for wine enthusiasts. Federico Schatz is known for his environmentally friendly methods and experimental approach. His Petit Verdot 2016 offers aromas of licorice, spices, and minerality, while on the palate, it delivers structured tannins and a long finish. This wine is perfect to accompany red meats or game dishes.

Paraje de Mincal Selección Especial (Bodegas Vilaplana)

Another standout wine from Bodegas Vilaplana, this red wine ages in an Andalusian farmhouse adapted as a winery. Its French and American oak barrels add complexity, with aromas of ripe red fruit and balsamic notes. On the palate, it is broad, with marked tannins and exceptional aging potential, making it a perfect companion for intense dishes.

Wineries: Tradition and Sustainability

Granada is home to wineries that combine ancient techniques with innovation to produce high-quality wines. Some, like Bodegas Vilaplana, focus on limited productions to guarantee exclusivity, while others, like Fontedei, opt for larger editions but always focus on sustainability. Wineries like Toral stand out for rescuing native grape varieties, contributing to the preservation of the region’s winemaking heritage.
