Passion, beauty, art. Three fantastic nouns to describe flamenco. But our dance is more than words, it is a way of life, something intangible that must be experienced to be felt and understood. Spain, the capital of flamenco, is where the most important artists have been formed, who thrill the whole world with their singing and dancing.
Those who have more of a tourist vocation should go to one of the zambras in Sacromonte or see a flamenco show in the Albaicín, and enjoy a nice dinner in a Flamenco restaurant in Granada.
The zambra is the flamenco that was born in Sacromonte. Its Arabic origin takes us back to the 15th century, when the Moors who had been expelled settled here and lived with the gypsies. The zumrã was the party held by the Moors at weddings.
The 'granaínos' gypsies adopted these rites and incorporated elements of their culture. This is how the zambra flamenca was born and is danced very close to the public, unlike the tablaos flamencos.
Flamenco art is composed of singing, guitar playing and dancing. It developed in Andalusia between the 18th and 19th centuries and is influenced by the mixture of several cultures: Arabic, Jewish and Christian.
It was declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2010.
In some places they offer dinner and show, in others only the show. In most of them, a drink with the show.

The palace-fortress of the Alhambra, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is one of the main attractions of Granada. Its impressive gardens, Islamic architecture and ornamental details make this place a masterpiece of Andalusian art.
At the Federico García Lorca Center, dedicated to the famous Spanish poet and playwright, you will find exhibitions, concerts and activities related to his life and work. Immerse yourself in the literary and theatrical legacy of one of the great exponents of the Generation of '27.

Federico García Lorca is one of the undisputed geniuses of 20th century literature, and his connection with Granada is undeniable. Granada is Lorca, and Lorca is Granada. Life itself merges with the land in this city, becoming his masterpiece, and literature is transformed into a kaleidoscope of feelings, biography and emotions. Here we find the poet and his landscapes, where each page is a chapter, a dictionary of characters, biographies, music and cinema, everything necessary to embark on an endless journey through Lorca and Granada, exploring both his land and his metaphors.
LORQUIAN PLACES
The mark that Federico García Lorca left on Granada is multiple and enduring. The city is impregnated with the places he inhabited, where he wrote, met and, tragically, where he was murdered. Every corner harbors a story related to the poet, and following in his footsteps allows us to enter his literary and personal world.
LORQUIAN ROUTES
The Lorquian routes invite us to immerse ourselves in the poet's life through three interconnected paths. The first route takes us to La Vega, a fertile valley surrounding Granada that inspired many of Lorca's poems during his childhood. By walking the paths of La Vega, we can enter into his childhood imagination and discover the places that marked his early life.
The second route guides us through Granada, the main city in Lorca's life and work. Here we find the University of Granada, where the poet studied and interacted with other writers and artists. In addition, emblematic places such as the Alhambra, the Albaicín and the Realejo inspired his poetry and theater. Following this route, we can better understand the influence of Granada in his artistic formation.
The last route takes us to Alfacar and Víznar, two towns near Granada where Lorca was shot in 1936. These places, besides being witnesses of a sad historical episode, are places of remembrance and homage to the poet. By visiting Alfacar and Víznar, we can reflect on Lorca's legacy and his struggle for freedom of expression.
Exploring the Lorca routes immerses us in the essence of Granada and the life of this literary genius. Each route reveals a different facet of Lorca and takes us into his poetic universe, reminding us of the deep connection between the poet and the city where he was born.
